Evo VIII spotted testing at the Nurburgring

Mitsubishi will release the new Lancer Evolution VIII in January 2003. The car will only be available in Japan initially and may not come to the UK at all.

Current information suggests, more power, six speed gearbox (some say sequential) and revised bodywork.

We have pre-ordered cars to ensure early delivery and anticipate UK delivery to be late February

The models available will be GSR, GTA, RS 5speed, and RS 6 speed

We now know that the GSR spec car will have a six speed gearbox and a similar spec to the evolution VIII, two new body colours are deep purple and a medium blue like the picture

We can see that the new style grill and bonnet gives the car that aggressive look once again but still has the new Mitsubishi family look about it.

The rear spoiler and bumpers are also changed as are the head and tail lamps.

The dull Evolution VIII interior has been brightened up with alloy finishings and a body coloured dash panel similar to the 2002 GTA.

The wheels seem to be 17inch Enkie six spoke and the ride height seems lower.

We now know the pricing structure and are able to quote guaranteed on the road prices for GSR models for delivery February 2003.
