The Lancer Evolution VI introduced in 1999 followed the tradition of aggressive styling and staggering performance, adding aerodynamic and cooling improvements to its predecessor.

A twin rear spoiler was introduced with “adjustable attack angle” adding to the styling and increasing the high speed stability

 

 


Black and blue Recaro seats , leather Momo steering wheel and easier to read blue dials enhance the interior.

 

 

 



The same 280 BHP 16 valve twin-cam engine powers full time four wheel drive via an electronic Active Yaw Control (AYC) differential.

 

 




Incharge of the stopping department are Brembo whos imposing red four pot calipers grab massive vented discs to the same specification as Ferraris F40.

Launched at the Mitsubishi “99 Champions Meeting” in the backyard of the Ralliart factory Tokyo.

This was a celebration and a thank you to the Japanese supporters 100 lucky customers got to sit in a works Lancer round a Gravel Rally stage with the world Champion, I was lucky to be invited.

 

 



The 2000 year car was introduced as an Evolution VI "Tommi Makinen"edition and had additional improvements including improved “Tarmac” style suspension, quicker more responsive steering rack, Titanium impeller in the turbo charger and an increased diameter exhaust system.

 

The interior had re designed dials and “ Tommi Makinen “signature Recaro seats, the usual twin air bags and climate control are retained.

 

 

On the exterior 17inch white Enkei alloy wheels and modified bumpers distinguish the Tommi Makinen from an original Evolution VI

 

 

 


Canal blue and Passion red join the colour scheme and a WRC style graphic package was available on the passsion red cars only.

 

 

Wow . To have a car named after yourself .that’s something else ,over the years I have made a number of suggestions to make the Lancer easier to control ,fast and fun to drive, I would like to say that anybody who buys the Lancer Evolution has made the “right choice”.
