Evolution
V brought Mitsubishis first attempt to commercialise on the rally
cars success, this road going version of the world beating rally
car brought with it not only tremendous speed and handling but also
the creature comforts of a road saloon.
With a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds and a 145mph top speed
its easy to see how it achieves its cult status and became the must
have car of 1998 and would pave the way for the next Evolution.
Wider track and bigger than the Evolution IV gave it a look like
it'll bite your body, 17 inch OZ alloys and alloy Brembo brakes
with red calipers helped it stick and stop. High speed stability
was from an aluminium adjustable spoiler and coined the phrase "attack
angle".
All that speed came from a 280 bhb, twin cam, 16 valve turbo charged
engine driving all four wheels. An electronically controlled differential
(AYC) dispersed the power and torque accurately to assist the traction.
