In the beginning almost 20 years ago when normal car dealers didn’t like or understand sporty cars or their owners two young car salesmen opened Coppull Motors and soon made their name as ‘the ‘ place in the north to find immaculate examples of the up and coming hot hatches and a dealership that the enthusiast could expect polite expert attention. This was a place for RS 2000s , Lotus Sunbeams , 205 Gti s and even the odd MGB or Spitfire, whatever model offered it was hand picked and immaculately prepared to a standard that would become a local legend.

Natural expansion saw them take over the local Ford dealer ‘ Langtree Garage ‘ at Standish where the firm went on to be nationally famous as Fast Lane Sportscars and was an award winning Ford Dealership , Fast Lane became a magnet for purchasers of the affordable sportscar, RS turbo,s XR3is and Capri Injections all where here in abundance and the rows of Fords popular Sierra Cosworths where a sight for sore eyes.

Time came for the partners to go there separate ways, Ron Hodgson opened up Ron Hodgson Specialist cars www.ronhodgson.co.uk and Steven Phillips opened and ran Warrender of Bolton. Both remained friends and of course are married to the delightful Lawrie sisters Claire and Tracy with out whose support none of this would be possible.

Steven then spent four years using his Sportscar knowledge and contacts into creating an expert team to make Warrender into a successful business.

The faithful Fast Fords where now stepping aside in popularity to what were to become the next cult car era. Japanese sportscars were now becoming recognized as the best yet in the Sportscar arena.

Mitsubishi Evolutions and Subaru Imprezas enticed him to Japan to further his knowledge and he soon became a recognized expert with the motoring press and TV presenters by having that rare car available when it was wanted.

Car magazine contributors

"Purveyor of fine imported cars and owner of the almost world-famous Warrender garage in Bolton, Lancashire, Steven provided the Evo VI that appears on the cover by by allowing us to fly to Japan with him to drive one of the first cars of the line. Don't ask how he'd managed to buy it... We asked and, like a true professional, he said he couldn't possibly reveal his sources."

After leaving Bolton Steven came back to Standish and to the ancestral home, Langtree Garage where now the best ever display of rare affordable Sportscars are displayed immaculately in his own unmistakable style. A loyal stream of past customers ensured that this venture would be a success.

Of course when you have built a great expert team over the last few years it would be wise to keep them so the original front and backroom staff from Bolton are now re united as a better stronger team at Langtree Garage.

The Japanese sportscars although the main stay of the business now mingle with BMW M3s and small convertibles whilst the 22B Imprezas now keep company with the odd Ferrari, Times change as do fashions so Steven is always on the look out for the next got to have sportscar and always seems to know when and were its available .
